| Biblical Foundation for the Veil |
| The first time I saw a veil used in worship, I truly did not understand it. It reminded me of the Religion of Islam, but, I was intrigued by it, and was quickened in my spirit, to search out its meaning. As I began my studies, I was amazed how naïve I was to the veil and its mention in scripture. The Veil is mentioned many times in scripture. We can find many scriptures to support using the veil for intercession, praise and worship. In my quest for knowledge on the veil I have found 2 main purposes for the veil, first as a prayer closet and second as a tool for intercession, used to help uncover and expose that which the Lord wants to expose! First; the veil as a prayer closet or a covering, an intimate place with the Lord. Song of Soloman 5:7 - The watchmen that went about the city found me, they smote me, they wounded me; the keepers of the walls took away my veil from me - In this scripture I find that the woman’s veil was precious to her, taking it away was a way to defile her. Exodus 40:3 - And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and cover the ark with the veil. - In modern day, we are the ark of the testimony, we are the tabernacle for the Lord, the Lord lives inside of us, just as the Isrealites were told to cover the ark of the testimony with the veil, we are to do so. Hebrews 9:3 - And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all - I find this reference to mean the behind the veil, is an intimate place. All of these scriptures point me in the direction of the veil being an intimate object, and being under or behind the veil, an intimate place. A place to close yourself in and meet with the Lord. That does not mean that we can not have intimacy with the Lord, without using veil. I am not saying that we all need to do this and be legalistic about it. My goal is to educate on the scriptural reasons behind the veil, and offer it to believers as a point of contact, for intimacy with the Lord. Second; and quite different from the first use for the Veil, is using the veil as a point of intercession, to “unveil”, or to "bring to light". Most things that are meant for bad are done in the dark, they are hidden from the light. I use my veils as intercessory tools, asking the Lord to bring the plans of the enemy to light, or they error of my own heart to light. Once something hidden in the dark is brought to light, it can then be dealt with. There are so many things that the Lord can lead us to “unveil”. Isaiah 25:7 - And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations. - The Lord is pulling down the enemies strongholds, he is unveiling his plans. 2 Corinthians 3:14 - But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ - As this scripture so clearly points out, the Lords wants to “unveil” the minds of the people. Ezekial 13:21 - Your kerchiefs (veils) also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the LORD - The Lord wants to set people free, he wants the veils of secrecy around the world to be torn down. |
